Garmisch Gorge Hike

Day 1 in the alps. A fellow traller asked me to go for a hike the moment I checked in to the hostel. Why the hell not? I had no idea I was in for an amazing 100m gorge hike.

After 7 or so grueling miles climbing hills, we arrived at the gorge. The gorge section was about a quarter mile, and weaved in and out of caverns in the rock face. Most of the time you couldnt see out into the blue sky because the height and shape of the sheer walls. See the pics below. Four hours later we celebrated a nice 8 mile mountain taming hike with a pasta dinner and the local German weizen.

Hello Garmisch!

Leaving Salzburg

Salzburg is a relatively small town with a big history. The main castle, Festung Hohensalzburg, dates back 1000 years, and is the town centerpiece. One thing you will definitely hear in Salzburg is 'Mozart' and 'The Sound of Music' because both the composer and the movie originated in Salzburg. There wasn't too much going on, mainly locals buzzing around and asain tourists snapping photos... Way too many photos in my opinion...

Opening Stuttgart Wiesen (octoberfest)

Little known in the US, Stuttgart also celebrates Weisen (the Stuttgart version of Octoberfest). I trekked over to the fairgrounds for the opening today, And after arriving early and a half hour wait, opened Stuttgart's annual beer fest.
